Christian Husbands – Are Your Prayers Being Hindered?

Are you a considerate, forgiving, and loving husband? Do you treat your wife with respect and adoration? Or could it be that your prayers are being hindered because you have not obeyed God's eternal law for how you should treat others?

There are several versions in the bible where God shows husbands how a wife should be treated.

1 Peter 3: 7 (NIV) Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with you wives, and treat them with respect as the winner partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

And again in …

Ephesians 5:25 (NIV) (25) Husbands love your wives just as Christ loved the church and brave himself up for her (26) to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word.

Here are a few tips for being a better Christian Husband

1. Start Your Day in Prayer.

Praying is important for any person, but it's even more important for Chrisitian husbands to pray daily. As the leader and the head of the Christian marriage; asking God to help you be a better husband is a great place to start improving your marriage right away.

Recommended daily Devotional

I thank you and praise you Lord Jesus that you will guide me in my life today every day. I pray this in Jesus name.

2. Plan A Date

Do you remember when you first began dating your wife? How exciting and fun it was doing and experiencing different things together.

Has dating gone out the window since you got married?

This happens all too often in marriage. You tend to get busy with work, paying bills, taking care of kids or even enjoying your hobbies.

Take some time and think about how things were before you got married and the fun you had dating. It's not too late to start again.

Go out to dinner, or even just going for a walk alone with your wife can get you talking again. This is also a great way to open up the lines of communication between you and your wife. Try not to focus on the current problems in your marriage but try to focus the conversation on positive subjects.

A great thing to talk about is what the Lord has reviled to you laTely in your prayer life and in your study of his word. Try to reconnect on a spiritual level.

If you keep Christ at the center of your marriage you will be amazed at the miracles that will take place.

3. Affair Proof your Marriage

Worrying about an affair is something you do not ever want to have to deal with in your marriage. Dealing with an affair is even worse than worrying about it. There are ways to prevent it from happening.

We all know the seventh commandment reads, "Thou shall not commit adultery". While the Ten Commandments are the laws that we should follow in our day to day lives, some do not. So you need to prevent an affair from occurring in your marriage.

Communication is one key to a solid marriage relationship. Try to pay attention to your wife's needs. Remember that men and women are different in how they communicate. Remember when you first started dating and you hung onto every word that your wife said. You probably listened to her differently as well.

If your spouse is doing something or not doing something, you need to discuss this with them in a loving way rather than finding someone else.

This how matters begin. It's usually one of the parties involved beginning to share their thoughts and feelings with a member of the opposite sex. The next thing you know someone ends up in bed with someone other than their spouse.

Finally if infidelity has occurred please seek out a professional Christian Counselor to help you start the healing process, even if you have to go by yourself at first. And remember that through God all things are possible.
